CANADA HIGH COMMISSION, CULTURAL TRIBE AND PFAG HOST FOOTBALL LEGACIES FROM GHANA AHEAD OF WORLD CUP 2026
Some of Ghana’s most celebrated former Black Stars players made a memorable appearance at a football legacy event hosted by the Canadian High Commission in Accra ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The event, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, formed part of activities highlighting cultural and sporting ties between Ghana and Canada as preparations intensify toward the global football showpiece.
Leading the distinguished group of former internationals were Anthony Baffoe, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Kwame Ayew, and Augustine Arhinful, all of whom once donned the famous Black Stars jersey and left lasting marks on Ghanaian football.
The gathering, organized in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission, Cultural Tribe Festival and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, celebrated the enduring legacy of Ghanaian footballers and their influence both locally and within the diaspora, particularly in Canada.
Speakers at the event emphasized football’s power to unite cultures and inspire younger generations, with the presence of the former Black Stars serving as a reminder of Ghana’s rich football heritage as the world counts down to the 2026 World Cup.
