Asante Kotoko clinched the first-ever Democracy Cup after defeating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Goals from Justice Blay and Peter Amidu were enough to secure victory for the Porcupine Warriors, who recorded an unprecedented third successive win against Hearts of Oak.
The Democracy Cup, part of Ghana’s 30th anniversary of parliamentary democracy celebrations, drew thousands of people to the Accra Sports Stadium to see the football fiesta.
After Parliament XI defeated Black Stars Legends 3-1 in the curtain-raiser, Hearts and Kotoko took to the pitch to battle for the coveted Democracy Cup.

Christian Atsu Twasam State Burial
ATSU GOES HOME AS WIFE AND KIDS LOOK ON.
The final funeral rites for the late Black Stars and Hatayspor player Christian Atsu Twasam was held in the early hours of Friday March 17 in Accra.
The state sponsored funeral which was held at the forecourt of the State house in Accra saw the President of Ghana including his vice, all present with the Turkyie Ambassador to Ghana also present and the vice president of the Hatayspor football club in Turkyie also present at the ceremony.
Atsu 31, was killed in a devastating earthquake that hit the southern part of Turkyie and killing over twenty thousand people with tens of thousands also injured and displaced in February.
Also in attendance at the funeral is the current Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton with one of his assistants George Boateng, Ghana football Association president Kurt Okraku, former national team players and members of Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and host of other traditional rulers.
